Authentication and Identification: Best Security System in Computers

Now is the computer age as many people would say. We seek the further improvement of all the things that we have in the present time. We are longing for extension of our time and as we witness this revolution we come to realize that privacy is flailing. We are private individuals, as many philosophers have defined, having equal right and privileges in the eye of the law.

No one is supreme and no one is inferior.  But with technology we become socially stratified. There is inequality everywhere. Some use technology for personal reasons yet not thinking that their act may violate other person's right for privacy.  With this rampaging circumstance, it is growing bigger in scale; we need to set remedy for this. In a computer system, all we have in our hands are codes that will protect us from hacking. These codes are called passwords. A password could be a number combination, letter combination, alphanumeric combination or alphanumeric and special character combination.

The length of passwords may vary according to the preference of the user. This information, the password, must maintain a confidential status for as long as the user deems that it is necessary. Though quite disturbing we have to hang on to the truth that if other person may have known our password it could have been our own fault. But you don't have to worry because now if you hold your password and keep it confidential as possible then you are safe from among those that wanted to get into your account. The password is a type of security system that enables only an authorized person to access information in the account.

Authentication and identification is the most commonly used method in the net. This is a process consisting of two steps that involves the identification of the user and the authentication of the identity. Identification is a method is used in order to identify who shall be permitted to log on into the net or access a file or website. This is a very common thing done especially in websites.

The user ID can be a letter combination, number combination, alphanumeric combination or alphanumeric and special character combination. In identification only the username is considered. Usually when signing up for an account in the net we are asked for a username or user ID (identification). The username must be unique, meaning the network would not allow duplication that is why there can be a wide variety of combination that a person can make. With this principle no two accounts would be the same.

Here are some guidelines that can be used as basis for coming up with a user ID:

1. The user ID must be unique enough to be distinguished from other user ID.
2. The user ID must not contain any of the user's position or important relation in an organization (this includes job titles such as chief executive officer or president)
3. Any common account must be avoided from usage. Why? Primarily because using this type of account names provide no accountability and are easy target for hackers.

Authentication is the second step of the process in which commonly a password is used for the confirmation and authentication of the user's identity. A unique password known only to you should be used. These two steps would provide you a security system for your computer which will secure every information you have from prying eyes.
